4 Reasons Why Your Sunscreen Doesn’t Work
In my last post, I mentioned that the Environmental Work Group found that only a mere 16% of all sunscreen products in the United States actually work. And here’s why:
1) Many sunscreen products do not protect your from both UVB and UVA rays. The SPF rating is used only to rate the effectiveness of UVB rays. There has been no rating system for UVA rays– now found to be the even more harmful than UVB rays.
2) Most sunscreens only work once they are absorbed into your skin. If you haven’t applied at least 20 minutes before, than your are not going to be protected during the time it takes for the product to become effective.
3) Within minutes of exposure to the sun, most sunscreens start to break down and lose their effectiveness in protecting you from harmful sun exposure. In fact more than half the of products on the market today start to break down when exposed to the sun.
4) Not knowing that your sunscreen continually becomes less effective, you stay out in the sun believing you are protected when you are not. Frequent and continuous application is necessary for most of these sunscreens to work, and most of us don’t think or remember to keep on applying them.

Best Sunscreen – Which Ones Actually Work?
Trying to find the best sunscreen is difficult when you have several hundreds of products to choose from. Sunscreen companies claim “All Day Protection” and “Waterproof” as stamped across their products. The fact is that the majority of sunscreens do not work! A recent study by the Environmental Work Group revealed that 84% of the 832 products that tested did not offer proper sun protection.
To get the proper protection from the sun you need to block both UVB rays and UVA rays. At the current time there is only a rating (SPF) for protection of UVB rays. The fact is that we now know that almost all of the damage we get from the sun comes from UVA rays and there is no rating out there to indicate that kind of protection.
Even worse, those that do offer some kind of sun protection, don’t work immediately, take at least 30 minutes to become effective, and then can quickly break down in the sun. Many of these products can even start to break down in the sun in just minutes. This leaves even those with the best of intentions vulnerable to the harsh affects of the sun.
There is an easy way to quickly sift through the hype and eliminate 90% of the products out there that just don’t work. Stay tuned and I will show you how.

Best Sunscreens – The Why of It.
Its a Fact. There is no denying it. Skin cancer isn’t just something someone else’s grandfather has. Skin cancer can happen to anyone. That means any age, any gender, and any race. And if dying isn’t a concern of yours, perhaps your vanity is. The sun is the number one cause of aging! Whatever age you are today, you can stop the process going forward by just wearing sunscreen. Simple.
So you KNOW you are supposed to wear sunscreen, but most of you don’t. You don’t because it is a hassle, it feels awful, greasy and slimy. Or if you do wear it, you are not applying it properly. And worst of all, if you are wearing it, and you are applying properly, chances are you are using a sunscreen product that is ABSOLUTELY USELESS!
My mission:
To help you sort through the 800 plus products out there to find which ones work.
To help you be able to quickly read a label and know in an instant if it has what you need and what you want.
To help you find a product you like so you will wear it.
To help you apply it the right way.
To help you use it religiously, every day.
Stay tuned…
